Josephine’s new CD, Elemental, to be released July, 2010

Raised in corn and bean fields on the outskirts of Greentown—a one-stoplight stop-and-go in central Indiana—singer/songwriter Josephine Johnson now makes Eureka, California, her home.  Her music often speaks of love, loss, triumph, and return through a tapestry of outdoor imagery and subtle story telling. But pretty words and pleasant melodies is not all she does.  A keen observer, Josephine’s songs also compassionately give insight into lives marginalized in American culture.  She can sing you to quiet lightning bug meadows, wind-swept landscapes, war-torn villages, and into the hearts of street-living families. With attention to delicate melody and word, Josephine will take you there.

Josephine Johnson has a B.A. in art and an M.A. in English and has been writing songs for ten years.

She performs regularly at the Humboldt County All Stars, a showcase  featuring some of the most talented songwriters and musicians in Humboldt County. Josephine and guitarist Andrew Goff most recently won the 2010 Evening of  Talent at the Arkley Theater in Eureka, California, and raised money for local charities.  In 2011, Josephine and Andrew will headline Humboldt’s 2nd annual Evening of Talent.

Josephine performs solo, with her band, and with a variety of talented North Coast musicians.

You can catch Josephine in Humboldt County at Has Beans each Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00pm; each month at the Mad River Brewery in Blue Lake; Humboldt County All Stars; Arts Alive! in Eureka; Arts Arcata; Arcata Tuesday Farmers Market; McKinleyville Thursday Farmers Market and many more venues throughout Northern California.  Check the North Coast Journal each week for a listing of where Josephine will play next.
